Sofas Built To Last
All our furniture lines are proudly built in the USA by talented artisans using well-established techniques to ensure each piece is as sturdy as it is beautiful. We'll help you select a style, fabric, and finish to suit your taste, whether that's traditional, contemporary, or somewhere between. Choose from a variety of cushion styles, including foam, down-wrapped, and other options, for seating to suit your desired comfort level. You can also count on your furniture being built to last with eight-way hand-tied springs, a kiln-dried hardwood frame, mortise and tenon, and double dowel joinery.
Eight-Way Hand-Tied Springs
Only a handful of manufacturers continue to do eight-way hand-tied spring construction because it’s a time-consuming technique that requires skilled craftsmanship. To create eight-way hand-tied coils, the artisan must tie the springs eights way, including from front to back, side to side and diagonally. The result is an upholstered piece of furniture that’s both comfortable and supportive. This tried, and true technique may increase the cost of your furniture, but it’s well worth the expense as you enjoy the long-lasting quality and comfortable seating for years to come.
Kiln-Dried Hardwood Frames
A long-standing option in durable furniture is the use of kiln-dried hardwood frames. It's considered a top-of-the-line feature that helps ensure you can count on your sofa frame to be strong and durable for many years. When hardwoods are first harvested, the wood holds a lot of water. While air drying is a common, less expensive option, kiln drying produces a better product.
Drying the wood in a kiln removes between 90% and 95% of the wood’s moisture, which prevents warping, bowing, or shrinking from temperature and humidity changes. This is especially important when using this wood as a frame for a quality sofa to ensures your furniture won’t lose its shape or become unstable from inadequately dried wood.
Test results show that dowels are one of the strongest methods for creating joints in furniture. Double dowel joinery utilizes two dowels at each joint in a piece of furniture for even greater durability on an upholstered frame. A sturdy furniture frame is secured with dowels and neatly applied glue at every joint to ensure a tight, long-lasting connection you can count on.
Another option for ensuring a strong frame is a mortise and tenon joint. This consists of two pieces of wood joined together, most usually at a right angle. The mortise is a hole and the tenon is the tongue, these two pieces interlock creating a simple, yet strong joint.
Revamp An Existing Piece
We can also breathe new life into an existing piece with some new upholstery. Reupholstering a sofa or other piece of furniture is a great way to repair a favorite piece or transform it into something you’ll love showing off. You can rest assured that our upholstery department will provide fabric or leather covers with an artistic eye and attention to detail you’re sure to love. Additionally, you can also choose to add new springs, padding, or webbing.
